Palaeocopa and Platycopa (Ostracoda) from Middle Devonian rocks in the Holy Cross Mountains, Poland
Middle Devonian (Eifelian) osrracodes are reported from the Holy Cross Mountains in Poland. They include forty-six species and subspecies of Palaeocopa and Plarycopa (Palaeocopida). Of the material described fourteen genera and subgenera, and forty-two species and subspecies are new.
A special effort is made to elucidate, functionally, the interior and exterior morphology of the carapace. lt is also becoming apparenr that the finer morphology of ostracode valves, as seen in internal aspect, is stable.
The stratigraphy of the Middle Devonian rocks in the Lysogóry region is reinrerpreted. The examination of the Palaeocopa and Platycopa has cast not only a new light on the occurrence of this fauna in the Eifelian rocks of the Holy Cross Mountains but also on the correlation of these rocks in this region and the Eifel Mounrains, Germany.
