Dodecaceria is a compound based on Greek for duodecim (12) and 'keraia' (antennae, feminine) in reference to the 12 (5-6 pairs) of branchiae of the genus diagnosis. Örsted does not state how many branchiae the type species has, so it can be assumed to be the same as the genus diagnosis of 12. [details]
