Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet rubrovittatus is composed by the prefix rubro-, from the Latin rubrum, meaning 'red', and the Latin adjective vitattus, meaning 'banded', and refers probably to the three dorsal longitudinal red lines present in the atokous region of the single specimen in the atokous stage studied by Claparède (1864).
