Distribution South Africa: Table Bay and Walker Bay (Western Cape Province, Atlantic Ocean); KwaZulu-Natal (Indian Ocean). [details]
Etymology "Mzansi means ‘south’ in isiXhosa, one of the most widely spoken indigenous languages in South Africa, but is colloquially used to refer to the country South Africa as a whole; this is the first species of Rhynchospio described for the region" (Simon et al., 2018: 670). [details]
Habitat Sandy tubes in upper intertidal region, within effluent outflow path from onshore abalone farm, and on ship's hulls and experimental suspended plates. It also occurs at shelf depths, in an unspecified type of sediment. [details]
Type locality Within effluent outflow path from onshore abalone farm near Gansbaai, Western Cape Province, South Africa, Atlantic Ocean (-34.6°, 19.3167°). [details]
