Synonymy Eriographidae has priority over the much later Myxicolinae. However, a family-group name must be derived from a genus used as valid at the time (Article 11.7.1), whereas Malmgren (1866) had used Myxicola as the valid genus name and placed Eriographis as its invalid synonym. Thus Eriographidae is not an available name. [details]
Taxonomy Created by Malmgren as family 'Eriographidea' for genus Myxicola (M. steenstrupi), in which Malmgren included Eriographis as a junior synonym, so it is strange Malmgren did not call the family Myxicolidae [details]
