Spelling Demonax brachychona is the correct original spelling (contrary to Tovar-Hernández & Harris, 2010 who use D. brachyona). ITIS possibly has/had an incorrect spelling [details]
Status Junior synonyn of Parasabella saxicola. If valid Demonax brachychona should be in Parasabella [Demonax is unavailable]. However, it is probably junior to D. saxicola, although authors previously appear not entirely certain of this, or whether D. saxicola [now Parasabella saxicola] is a confused concept or not (with implication D. brachychona is better defined). See Knight-Jones (1983), Knight-Jones, Knight-Jones, & Ergen (1991), also Tovar-Hernández & Harris (2010). According to Tovar-Hernández & Harris (2010) Knight-Jones (1991) wrongly preferred to use D brachychona over D. saxicola, but those authors do not formally synonymize the two names although the implication that they are synonyms is made.
