Editor's comment Viviani's figure suggests Nereis mucronata Viviani was an epitoke of a syllid. This was also evidently the view of McIntosh, who included a mention of the three Nereis of Viviani in a discussion (1908: 141) of Syllidae 'phosphorescence' [details]
