Etymology Tovar-Hernández. & Jirkov (2023) explain that Chone perseyi "was established in honor to the first Soviet research ship “Persey” (Zenkewitsch 1925, page 11, paragraph 4). Chone perseyi was collected while the RV Persey was in Belushya Bay during its first scientific voyage in 1923" [details]
