Type locality "Tamiona" [misspelling?] reef, Tahiti, collected C. Crossland. No location information for a "Tamiona reef" has been found. Monro (1928), working on the Crossland collection spelled the Tahiti placename as "Tamioai", but no information has been found on that either. Monro (1939) similarly has a "Taunoa reef", of which there appear to be two, one of which is close to Papeete. Its geolocation is -17.5167 -149.55. Monro mentions this "Taunoa" location twice in connection with Crossland's Tahiti material, and it may be that Taunoa is Pettibones' "Tamiona" location. [details]
