Holotype Hartman (1951: 72) stated that "There are 2 finds, one from Alligator Harbor, Franklin Co., Florida, February 1950 (coli. L. M. Henry) and another off Englewood Bay, Florida in sand from shallow water. There is no designation of a holotype between these two syntypes. However, Álvarez & Haggin (2024) report that the specimen from Alligator Harbour is marked as the holotype in the LACM collection. The details are: "Alligator Harbor, Florida, Gulf of Mexico, US, North Atlantic Ocean, Sta. 3, coll. 04 Feb 1950, 29.91°N, 84.3953°W, holotype (LACM-AHF Poly 674)". As no other 1950's specimen is mentioned in the material examined perhaps Hartman's second specimen is lost. [details]
