Etymology The specific epithet pseudonoodti is composed by the Latin prefix of Greek origin pseudo-, meaning 'fake' or 'false', followed by the specific epithet of the species Neahthes noodti Hartmann-Schröder, 1962, and refers to the similarities between the two species: ''Neanthes noodti and N. pseudonoodti resemble each other but differ in the distribution and shape of the paragnaths, especially on areas VII and VIII'' (Fauchald, 1977: 29).
