Etymology The specific epithet estuarius is a latinized form derived of the Latin noun aestuarium, meaning 'estuary' or 'tidal creeek', and refers to the habitat in which the species occurs, being always found in the upper reaches of rivers. [details]
Habitat Sediments of muddy sand (fine to coarse), in salinities of 0.0-29.0 ‰, at shallow water in the upper reaches of rivers and estuaries. [details]
