Editor's comment The species Paratyposyllis paurocirrata seems to have been described with base on incomplete or damaged specimens of the genus Syllis Lamarck, 1818. [details]
Etymology The specific epithet paurocirrata is composed by the Greek prefix pauro-, meaning 'little' or 'few', and cirrata, feminine of the Latin adjective cirratus, meaning 'fringed', and refers to the presence of only one pair of tentacular cirri, and the absence of dorsal cirri on chaetiger 2. Habitat Mesopsammic, groundwater among medium to coarse sand and granite stones, 25 cm deep, 1 meter above highwater level, before highwater (temperature 17.5ºC, temperature of sea 12.8ºC). [details]
Type locality Southeast Pacific Ocean, Chile, Bahia San Vicente, left side near mouth of Estero Lenga (geocoordinates not provided, estimated with gazetteer to be approximately lat. -36.7632º, long. -73.1757º). [details]
