Distribution Indian Ocean: Puducherry, Southeast India (Bay of Bengal); Jeram Beach, Selangor, Malaysia (Strait of Malacca). [details]

Habitat The new species was based on specimens collected by the French entomologist Maurice Maindron in 1901, during his stay at Puducherry, in that time part of the French India, as Pondichéry. According to Maindron's notes on his book ''Dans l'Inde du Sud (Le Coromandel)'' (1907, Paris, Alphonse Lemerre, 296 pp.), he visited or collected entomological material around Puducherry at the localities of ''Chounambar'' (= Chunnambar = Sankarapani River), ''Ariancoupan'' (= Ariyankuppan River, a distributary of Sankarapani River), ''marais des jardins coloniaux'' (= swamps of Puducherry Botanical Gardens), and ''Grand-Étang [d'Oussoudou]'' (= Osudu Lake). At least some of these localities are of fresh or brackish water. The species was also found in intertidal Sabellaria reefs, by Polgar et al. (2015). [details]
