Etymology The specific epithet caribica refers to the type locality of the species, in the Caribbean Sea. [details]
Habitat Chalky coarse sand of coral riffs, intertidal. [details]
Type locality Caribbean Sea, Netherlands Antilles, west coast of Aruba Island, Eagle Beach (12.3ºN, 70.0ºW; geocoordinates slightly displaced from Eagle Beach, corrected here to lat. 12.547147º, long. -70.060032º). [details]
Type material The SMF collection number of the holotype of Syllides caribica Licher, 1996 is SMF 4971, as stated in Licher (1996). The number SMF 5600, as appearing in Fiege & Wehe (2004), is a typographical error (Dieter Fiege, pers. comm. to João Gil, March 26 2015). [details]
