Etymology The species is named after the British zoologist Dr. John Edward Gray (b. Walsall, England, 12 February 1800 – d. London, England, 7 March 1875), to whom the species is dedicated: "Hanc speciem insignem, omnium cognitorum Terebellaceorum maximam, illustrissimo viro Doctori J. E. Gray mente grata dedicavi" (Malmgren, 1866: 377). [details]
