Nomenclature According to McIntosh (1922: 166), Montagu had prepared a MS using the name Amphiro constrictor. However, Montagu published the name as Terebella constrictor in 1819, presumably the same taxon. As McIntosh (1922) was the one who published the unpublished name of Amphiro constrictor in his 1922 synonymy for T. constrictor, the name is a dubiously available subsequent combination to Terebella constrictor Montagu, although prepared earlier in an unpublished Montagu MS. Synonymy McIntosh (1922: 166) places Terebella constrictor Montagu as a junior syononym of Leprea lapidaria (Linnaeus, 1767: 1092) (originally Terebella lapidaria). However, in conflict with that placement , in the same work McIntosh (1922: 147) Montagu's Terebella constrictor is given the replacement name of Loimia montagui. The circumstance requiring the creation of this nom. nov. is not stated. These two different treatments cannot be harmonized. Perhaps McIntosh worked on the names at different times and did not realize he had made two different placements. [details]Unreviewed
