Scoloplos tumidus sp. nov. is described from Hong Kong. The species is closely related to Scoloplos marsupialis Southern, 1921 from India, but differs most markedly in having bifurcate neuropodial lobes in the posterior thorax and a more anterior introduction of the branchiae. Detailed descriptions of both species are given together with comments on their respective morphological variability, distribution and synonymy
