Two new Microphthalmus species (Polychaeta, Hesionidae) from intertidal sand beaches in New Zealand and Chile
Two interstitial meiofaunal polychaetes of the hesionid taxon Microphthalmus new to science are described from intertidal coastal areas of New Zealand and Chile. M. riseri sp. n. is one of the few species with paired cuticular copulatory stylets. M. onychophorus sp. n. is unique within the genus in posessing strong falcate notopodial hooks which are characteristic of a number of "pilargid" polychaete taxa.
