Taxonomic remark San Martín (2004) described the species as Sphaerosyllis(?) ruthae, stating that it belonged to a new genus that was being erected for this and other species. This genus was named and described in San Martín (2005), as Erinaceusyllis (type species: Sphaerosyllis erinaceus Claparède, 1863). However, in the new publication no new combination was crated to include Sphaerosyllis ruthae in the new genus. For this reason the species remains here under Sphaerosyllis until it is published as a new combination under Erinaceusyllis. [details]
