Etymology The specific epithet cruciformis is composed by the Latin noun crucis, genitive of crux and meaning 'cross', and the Latin noun formis, plural of forma and meaning 'shape' or 'form', and refers to the shape of the tips of the long buccal tentacles, with a subdistal cylindrical inflation and a blunt tip, resembling a cross.
