Tebble, Norman. (1953). A review of the genus Ophelia (Polychaeta) with descriptions of new species from South Africa and Californian waters. Annals and Magazine of Natural History. Series 12. 6(65): 361-368.
[From introduction:]
Recent work (Tebble, 1952) on some species of Ophelia Savigny, 1822, from British and adjacent waters, suggested the necessity of a reexamination of certain features in all species of the genus. This reveals that some characters, of diagnostic importance, have been overlooked, whilst the value of others has been exaggerated. There follows an alphabetical list, with annotations, of recorded species of the genus known to the author; a discussion on the relative value of various morphological characters; a key to the valid species and descriptions of a new species from South Africa and two new species from California.
