Raricirrus variabilis new species (Polychaeta: Ctenodrilidae) is described from the Tongue of the Ocean, St. Croix, Virgin Islands. This deepsea species was collected from submerged wood at 4000 m and is an apparent organic-enrichment opportunist. Taxonomic differences between the genera Raricirrus and Raphidrilus are discussed.
