Etymology Not stated, but clearly named after Félix Pierre Jousseaume (b. 12 April 1835 in Vervant, France - d. 03 November 1921 in Chantilly, France), a French zoologist specialized in the field of malacology who collected the type material in 1895 at Obock (Djibouti, Gulf of Tadjoura).  [details]

Spelling Although the species is named after Félix Pierre Jousseaume, Gravier (1899) initially used the spelling 'jousseaumi', removing the terminal e for the stem, but then later (1901) used 'jousseaumei' which seems a more logical genitive. Gravier's (1901) 'correction' or change (or mistake) is unrelated to requirements for forming male versus female personal species-group names. However, the original spelling is to be maintained, and the Hartman catalogue (p244) used 'jousseaumi, although the changed spelling was adopted by a number of workers over the years. Taxonomists who consider 'jousseaumei' is nevertheless now prevailing usage may wish to make that clear when/if they use that spelling.
Hartman catalogue also attributes 'jousseaumei' to Fauvel 1927 [Suez canal expedition results], but this is simply wrong, and Fauvel is using Gravier's species [details]
