Nomenclature S. telesphorei is a replacement name for what would have been "Scyphoproctus platyproctus" (Pillai, 1961), which would have been a junior secondary homonym to the existing Scyphoproctus platyproctus Jones, 1961. The two species were published in the same year, but Da Silva & Amaral (2019) state only "S. platyproctus Jones, 1961 should be considered the senior homonym (date of publication)", but do not indicate how they determined which species was published first in 1961, and do not include Pillai's publication in their references.. However, Jones's article was apparently published in October, and Pillai's article was published in November, according to information in the issues of the respective journals. [details]
