Spelling Ampharete kowalewskii is named for A.O. Kovalevskii with spelling as 'kowalewskii' in roman alphabet script on pages 13, 36, 114-117. The heading spelling as 'kawalewskii' on page 112 is a lapsus. The next year Grimm (1877) synonymized the name (using the 'kowalewskii' spelling) to Amphicteis invalida.
