Etymology Authors: the Spiophanes pulchram "epithet refers to the Latin pulchram, which means beautiful." However, while this is true, 'pulchram' is a rare accusative feminine singular noun form, whereas the appropriate adjectival forms would be one of pulcher, pulchra, pulchrum (masc, fem, neuter). Generally beautiful is adjectival, but a noun usage can be abstract as "he found something beautiful in the sunset". There are no other 'pulchram' epithets in WoRMS, whereas there are 588 variants of the masculine 'pulcher' alone used in species epithets. Here 'puchram' can be treated as a noun in apposition [details]
