Editor's comment Benham includes Praxilla abyssorum, Mcintosh, (Chall. Rep., Zool., xii.,1885, p. 408) as a synonym of his new species, but this is clearly impossible on priority grounds, and the match is also incorrect on morphology according to Light (1991: 144) as P. abyssorum has anterior neuropodial spines.
