Editor's comment The species was originally described from freshwater streams in the French Guiana. The record from Guadeloupe by Gillet (1986) is from saltwater (salinity stated to range between 35.1 g/l and 37.1 g/l), in a region dominated by intertidal mangroves, an could represent a different species.
