Status Species inquirenda according to Glasby & Hutchings (2014: 117) as types could not be found. Earlier the Hartman catalogue (p.518) had placed Polycirrus triglandula under P. denticulatus, apparently as a subjective synonym (noted by Glasby & Hutchings without comment), but this is not possible as P. triglandula is the senior name. Possibly Hartman was relying on Fauvel (1927: 284 see note) who tentatively related triglandula with denticulatus. [details]
Type locality Madeira, East Atlantic. Langerhans gives no locality. [details]
