Taxonomy Not determinable from the original description. Blake (1971: 23): "Specimens, described as Polydora gracilis Verrill by J. P. Moore (MS), were examined in the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences. They agreed with P. socialis. Blake (1969) placed P. gracilis in synonymy with P. socialis but this is at least questionable, since no type material of P. gracilis exists and the description is not adequate for specific determination."
