Depth range 4005–4280 m. [details]
Distribution Pacific Ocean: abyssal depths off eastern Australia from New South Wales to Queensland, Coral Sea (4005–4280 m). [details]
Etymology From Blake (2023: 293): "The epithet is from the Latin, renis, for kidney, in reference to the conspicuous pigmented nephridia that characterize this species." In Lewis & Short 1891 Latin Dictionary and in Brown (1954) 'renunculus -i m" is a noun diminutive meaning a little kidney. Thus an appropriate name for the little kidney structures in this species. Thus the change to 'renuncula' as published would be a neologism probably best likewise treated as an unchanging noun in apposition. The only occurrence in WoRMS of this 'renuncula' spelling is for this species. [details]
Habitat Abyssal plains (4005–4280 m). [details]
Spelling As stated in the etymology 'renuncula' seems to be a neologism and is treated as unchanging
noun in apposition. This is because 'renunculus' is a noun, not an adjective. [details]
