Grammatical gender  Feminine, as Ampharete is a Greek female name. [details]

Synonymy Hartman's (1978) genus description has ambiguous text remarks justifying Parampharete, but she appears to base Parampharete on the presence of 3 rather than 4 pairs of branchiae. This observation is apparently based on branchial scars rather than actual branchiae. Jirkov's (2011) diagnosis of Ampharete does not require consideration of numbers of branchiae.  [details]
