Etymology The specific epithet nigrocirrus is composed by the Latin adjective nigro, form of niger and meaning 'black' (more precisely 'shining black', as opposed to ater, 'dull black'), and the Latin noun cirrus, meaning 'filament' or 'appendage', and presumably refers to the small dark dorsal and ventral cirri present from about chaetiger 15.
