Classification Former status was as subfamily Fabriciinae in Sabellidae. Then Kupriyanova & Rouse, 2008 changed the family-level rank to Fabriciidae, without commenting on whether Fabriciinae as now the nominotypical subfamily taxon for Fabriciidae should still be in use. Subsequently Bick & Bastrop (2025) added subfamily Manayunkiinae to Fabriciidae and redeployed nominotypical subfamily Fabriciinae Rioja, 1923 for Fabricia and related genera (although they wrongly claimed to have created Fabriciinae again as a new subfamily). See Fabriciinae notes for more explanation [details]
