Status Sylline has been variously placed as a synonym of Proceraea (by Langerhans), Autolytus (eg San Martin, 2003), and Myrianida (by Nygren, 2004). All these are Autolytinae with Autolytus now a synonym of Myrianida. Nygren examined a specimen of Sylline rubropunctata he had located and considered was a Grube syntype and he placed it a new combination in Myranida. Thus Grube's taxon type species continues as a valid name. The use of Grube's Sylline by Claparède for an exoginin species, as Sylline brevipes, is an error, but unfortunately has been perpetuated with the addition of other usages under Exogone (Sylline) [details]
