Etymology The specific epithet simplex is a Latin adjective meaning 'simple', 'single', or 'not complex', and refers to the stronger chaetae appearing in the dorsal region of the bundle from about segment 30 to the 10-20th segment before the pygidium, numbering 1, seldom 2, and being simple, without blade.
