Type species According to Chamberlin (1919:143) the type species of Callizona is C. nasuta Greeff, 1876. The derivation of this assumption is unknown. It does not appear that Chamberlin was designating this species himself as the type. [details]

Synonymy Type species not stated. Greeff (1876) introduced Callizona for three new species Callizona cincinnata, C. nasuta, and C. grubei. The latter two species are now in Rhynchonereella Costa, 1864, but the first is in Krohnia. However, Hartman catalogue appears to regard Callizona as a synonym of Rhynchonereella Costa, 1864. The published basis for this is probably Chamberlin (1919:143) but further checking is needed as Chamberlin states that C. nasuta is the type species but does not document why he believes this. [details]
