Type locality Type locality unknown to Baird. He only knew the specimen was "taken during the Congo Expedition". Therefore the best estimate that can be made is that the specimen came from offshore of "Congo", Western Central Africa, on the Atlantic coast. The Natural history museum original register similarly only records that the specimen was from the Congo Expedition. However the Museum's computer record for the holotype places the location as west of São Tomé. How this precision was derived is unknown, and must be unreliable if not supported by an original label. Editor's comment Clymene is unused today, C. insignis was poorly described, has no usage of the name subsequent to Baird, and the type location is uncertain.
