Type material "Members of this family [Syllidae], described by Kinberg, had been stored in a single jar which was found broken and dried in 1913; the specimens are consequently unsatisfactory. The species include the following, all by Kinberg: [...] Eurymedusa picta from Port Jackson [...]" (Hartman, 1948: 47). However, Álvarez-Campos et al (2015) make no reference to this drying event or state the condition of the syntype (SMNH 6864) they examined. They do not comment on the type at all, except to say they have examined it, and it is a Syllis. It should be noted their molecular data comes from non-type modern specimens, said to be Syllis picta.
