Authority Ehlers (1912: 15 and in species list) introduces the name Gyptis incompta prematurely, clearly indicating it was a new species from the Deutsche Sudpolar-expedtion. However that work was not published until Ehlers1913. The Ehlers (1912) usage has station information and some descriptive text but it does not appear to amount to differentiating information and thus the usage is a nomen nudum. This, however, might be debated. However, Hartman (1964: 73) used the 1912 mention as the valid species original description date, although earlier (1959) she had used 1913. Whereas Rizzo & Salazar-Vallejo (2014: 281) state that Hartman (1964) had declared the Ehlers 1912 usage of Gyptis incompta a nomen nudum, but this is mistaken. She did not. Possibly they may have confused it with her 1964 declaration on p. 71 that.Podarke comata in Ehlers 1912 was a nomen nudum. There is no other mention of nomina nuda in her Antarctic Errants review article. [details]
