Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet deductus in a Latin adjective meaning 'attenuated', 'slender' or 'fine', and presumably refers to the shape of the body of the species, described as "Length about 34.0mm; width at the 2nd setigerous segment, which is the widest region, 0.8mm" (Pillai, 1961: 29). Habitat Brackish water (11.0-19.0 p.p.t.) at shallow depths (1-4 fathoms; 1.8-7.3 m), in fine black mud in oyster beds. [details]
