Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet decora is the feminine of the Latin adjective decorus, meaning 'adorned', 'beautiful' or 'graceful', and in spite that it is not described, presumably makes reference to the coloration of the species, or less probably to the shape of its body. [details]
Habitat Brackish water (11.0-19.0 p.p.t.) at shallow depths (1-4 fathoms; 1.8-7.3 m), in fine black mud in oyster beds. [details]
Type locality Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka, Tambalagam Bay (= Tambalagam Lake), centre of the lake (geocoordinates not provided, estimated with gazetteer to be approximately lat. 8.52º, long. 81.16º). [details]
