Etymology The specific epithet weissmannioides is composed by the word weissmanni, the specific epithet of Pionosyllis weissmanni Langerhans, 1879, described from Madeira, and the suffix -oides, used to express 'likeness' or 'resemblance', and refers to the similarity of the new species with P. weissmanni. Spelling The specific epithet was originally written by Augener (1913) as weissmannioïdes, using a diaeresis on the second ''i''. [details]
