Editor's comment There is no such species as Polynoe rigida. However, we have retained this incorrect record in order to explain how the name combination arose. Grube (1868: 50) referred to his already described Sigalion (Psammolyce) rigida (family Sigalionidae) as "P. rigida Gr", but he had mentioned both Polynoe (Lepidonotus) and Sigalion (Psammolyce) in the previous paragraph, so the genus (and family) intended was not clear to readers. Unfortunately this ultimately resulted in a listing error in the Hartman catalogue as Polynoe rigida (her page 105) instead of Psammolyce rigida Grube. Hartman did list both Psammolyce rigida (her page 118) and Sigalion (Psammolyce) rigida (her page 119) [details]
