Etymology Not stated, uncertain. The specific epithet elongata (masculine: elongatus) is a Latin adjective meaning 'prolonged' or 'elongated', and may refer to the shape of the body, which in the holotype measures 10 mm in length for 37 chaetigers, or to the presence of two pairs of branchiae (pairs 11 and 12) noticeably longer than the rest.
