Etymology Not stated. The use of the name 'antarcticum' is a mystery as the location of collection was New Zealand [details]
Specimen The Natural History Museum, London. This is undoubtedly where the syntype specimens should/must be, but they could not be found via the online data portal (searched 05/05/2021 for the Flabelligeridae total collection and for 'antarcticum' and for 'siphonostoma'), and for the register code given by Salazar-Vallejo. Salazar-Vallejo (2012: 13) reported that the register code was BMNH-57.1.17.3, but this is a lapsus as it is not a valid code for the BMNH where the syntax is there are four figures first and they always indicate the year of accession. [details]
Synonymy Salazar-Vallejo (2012) examined three specimens he said were syntypes and placed the specimens under Flabelligera bicolor Schmarda, 1861 [details]
Type locality Baird (1871) states only New Zealand for the location, and that the specimens (plural) were collected by Dr A. Sinclair. [details]
