Etymology The specific epithet is derived from the Latin, parvus, meaning small, and oculatus, meaning having eyes, and refers to the unusually small eyes of the species. [details]
Habitat Mangrove rootmat of Rhizophora mangle covered with Caulerpa verticillata or Halimeda opuntia f. triloba and in Thalassia testudinum seagrass meadows, at shallow water. [details]
Reproduction Developing young attached dorsally. [details]
Type locality Caribbean Sea, Belize, Twin Cays, West Bay (16º50'N, 88º05'W). [details]
