Etymology Not stated. The specific epithet pallidus is a Latin adjective meaning 'pale' or 'pallid', and presumably refers to a light coloration of the species. Hartman (1960: 119) does not describe the coloration, but states that the ''Eyes are absent or obscure as a pair of spots located at the sides, between the palpal bases'', and also that the ''eyes are nearly or altogether absent.''
