Etymology The specific epithet anoculata is composed by the feminine Latin adjective oculata, meaning 'having eyes', preceded by the Greek prefix an-, meaning 'without' or 'lacking', and refers to the absence of eyes in the species. [details]
Habitat Mesopsammic, groundwater among coarse sand, 70 cm deep, 1 meter above highwater level (temperature 15.8ºC; salinity 34.7‰). [details]
Type locality Southeast Pacific Ocean, Chile, 24 km south of Tocopilla, small bay with boulders and pebbles (geocoordinates not provided, estimated with gazetteer to be approximately lat. -22.282º, long. -70.242º). [details]
